SAMS Organizes Specialized Lecture on Addiction in Homs as Part of January 2026 Medical Mission
As part of the January 2026 medical mission implemented in Syria by the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), the SAMS Institute for Medical Education organized a specialized scientific lecture entitled “Addiction,” in collaboration with Al-Birr Association Hospital and Social Services in Homs.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Bassam Awa and Dr. Yousef Abu Al-Laban, psychiatry specialists from the United States. The session addressed addiction from a comprehensive scientific and psychological perspective, highlighting the latest diagnostic and therapeutic approaches and emphasizing the importance of integrating medical treatment with psychological and behavioral support in managing addiction cases.
The lecture targeted psychiatrists, psychotherapists, and psychological counselors, providing an interactive platform for professional exchange and scientific discussion. The activity reflects SAMS Institute’s ongoing commitment to strengthening continuing medical education and supporting mental health services within Syria’s healthcare sector.
