SAMS Institute Organizes the First Nephrology Residents Conference in Damascus
As part of its ongoing efforts to support continuing medical education and promote self-directed learning among resident physicians, the SAMS Institute , in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, organized the First Nephrology Residents Conference in Damascus on February 14, 2026. The event was held at the Surgical Kidney Hospital within Ibn Al-Nafis Medical Complex in Damascus.
The conference brought together a distinguished group of consultants and specialist physicians in nephrology and related fields from Syria and the United States. A total of 55 physicians attended, primarily nephrology residents, in addition to doctors from internal medicine, radiology, urology, cardiology, pathology, and laboratory medicine. The diverse participation created an interactive academic platform that fostered professional dialogue and clinical knowledge exchange.
The conference featured a series of specialized scientific lectures delivered by 13 speakers, focusing on the latest updates in nephrology, the development of clinical and diagnostic skills, and in-depth discussions of clinical cases to strengthen critical thinking among resident physicians.
This initiative aimed to update medical knowledge in line with the latest concepts and practices in nephrology, enhance residents’ clinical and diagnostic competencies, and reinforce a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Through this initiative, the SAMS Institute reaffirms its commitment to advancing the quality of medical education and supporting healthcare professionals in Syria, ultimately contributing to improved patient care outcomes.
